Tac welding a small pig iron into steel object?

I want to weld steel tac a small cast-iron object. This is just for decoration. I make a bird bath for my wife Steel, but I have a little decoration, cast iron, which I need to get it tac. Will I be ok if I only MIG this box to be?

I knew, boiler manufacturers, who worked years ago for a foundry, the way he was cast welded with a stick welder and a thick rod of cast iron. He would strike the arc setting the floor on a very high and then feed the cast iron rod into it, he was with a TIG welding, as was it strange to see him weld it but it worked. (No heating of the cast)
