Have you ever thought how wild birds can handle the cold? Another day I was watching my breakfast with the birds from my window and this thought came to me.
During the cold winter months we use blankets in the house and stay where we heat. What about the birds? I decided to search done via the Internet, some knowledge of these little creatures that look so fragile. I learned a lot of things and now I want to share with you.
I learned that they do not need us humans to survive them, like most animals, they can be protected against the harsh cold. Some birds in winter migrate to places with warmer temperatures. The other birds, berries, fruits and seeds such as woodpeckers, titmice, nuthatches, grosbeaks, finches, eat red polls, crossbills, snow buntings, cardinals, Waxwings, magpies, jays, ravens, crows, sparrows, starlings and stay in the cold winter.
Birds eat continuously during the winter to store up fat. They use this extra fat in the night, to produce heat. If not find birds, a bird house with sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, suet or peanuts eat berries from the trees such as holly, hawthorn, crab apple, birch and elder.
